Gooseholme flood prevention

Every few years work is done by the Environment Agency to remove all the stones that have come down the Kentmere valley and settled on the River Kent at Gooseholme, Kendal.  This time it seems alot sooner for the EA to start removing the stone build up, probable as a result of the flood waters last years and the unusual high water level a month ago when we had a prolonged length of rain.  Below is a photo I took last week.
